How to export a Gemini chat to PDF, Markdown or Google Docs

Gemini makes it easy to send one answer to Google Docs, but people searching “export Gemini chat to PDF” or “to Markdown” usually want the whole conversation, prompts included. Here are your options, starting with the built-in ones.

1. Export one response to Google Docs (built in)

Under each Gemini response, open the share/export menu and choose Export to Docs. You get a Google Doc with that answer. From Docs you can then use File → Download for PDF or Word. The catch is that it covers a single response and leaves out your prompt, so long back-and-forth chats need many clicks.

2. Check the conversation menu

Gemini’s interface changes often. Some accounts have a menu at the top of the chat with options that cover the entire conversation, such as Download PDF or Export to Docs. If yours has them, that is the quickest way to get a PDF or Doc of the whole chat. What you can’t pick is the format: there’s no Markdown or plain text option for notes apps.

3. Google Takeout (everything)

Google Takeout can export your Gemini Apps activity as an archive. It works as a backup, but it gives you your whole account’s activity, not one tidy file per conversation.

4. Copy or print

Copy-paste works for short chats. Printing (Ctrl/Cmd + P → Save as PDF) is free but usually includes the sidebar and input box, and long chats may be cut off because older messages load only as you scroll.
